Your charter includes a USCG licensed and insured captain, crew on full-day charters, fuel, a fully stocked bar (top-shelf liquors, mixers, beer, seltzers, juice, and water), high-quality snorkel masks and noodles, a private onboard marine bathroom, a heated fresh water rinse shower, and Bluetooth audio. Basically — show up and enjoy.
BVI customs fees (approximately $85 per person, cash), docking and mooring fees, lunch and drinks purchased off the boat, sunscreen (reef-safe please, no aerosols), towels, and crew gratuity (20% is customary for great service — cash preferred).
Salty Viking’s main departure point is the National Park Service finger dock in Cruz Bay, St. John. We also offer a complimentary wet pickup (just a quick wade to the boat!) at the St. John Westin resort. Prefer to board on St. Thomas? No problem — we pick up at American Yacht Harbor or Sapphire Marina on St. Thomas for an additional fee. Just let us know your location when you book.
Absolutely — and it’s one of the best ways to make the most of a port day. We pick up directly from Crown Bay Marina or Yacht Haven Grande, both convenient to the St. Thomas cruise terminals. From there, we’ll take your private group straight to St. John’s hidden beaches, snorkel reefs, and iconic island stops — no ferry lines, no tour buses. We time everything around your ship’s all-aboard so you never have to worry. Our cruise ship guests consistently say it was the best day of their cruise. Book directly through our website.
Yes — we offer private water taxi transfers between Crown Bay Marina in St. Thomas (a quick 5-minute taxi from the St. Thomas airport) and Cruz Bay, St. John. Fast, comfortable, and stress-free with luggage space and chilled drinks onboard. Airport transfers are arranged personally rather than through our online booking system — email us at info@saltyvikingcharters.com to set one up.
Yes — a valid passport is required for British Virgin Islands trips. However, for USVI charters (St. John, Water Island, St. Thomas area), no passport is needed. We’ll make sure you know what’s required when you book.
Absolutely — BVI full-day charters are one of our most popular options. Upon arrival in the BVI, you’ll clear customs and immigration — approximately $85 per person in cash. Don’t worry though, our crew handles the entire check-in process while you relax onboard. On the way home, we’re fully approved for the CBP ROAM app — the U.S. Customs & Border Protection digital check-in system — which means returning to St. John requires no customs stop at all. It’s handled on the app, right from the boat. More time on the water, less time at a dock. Popular BVI destinations include Jost Van Dyke (Soggy Dollar, White Bay), Norman Island, the Caves, Virgin Gorda and The Baths, and North Sound.
Some of our favorite snorkel stops include Waterlemon Cay in the Virgin Islands National Park, the offshore cays around St. John, Christmas Cove and Greater St. James near St. Thomas, and in the BVI — the Indians, the Caves at Norman Island, and Diamond Cay near Jost Van Dyke. Your captain will tailor the itinerary based on conditions and your group’s preferences.
The catamaran hull design provides exceptional stability — virtually no rocking or rolling at anchor, and a smooth ride underway thanks to the hydrofoil system. Guests who are typically prone to seasickness are often surprised by how comfortable the experience is.
Yes — all charters are fully private and customized to your group. You choose from our suggested destinations and your captain will add local knowledge and adjust based on weather and sea conditions. No two charters are exactly alike.
Yes — Salty Viking has a private, fully enclosed marine bathroom onboard. Clean, comfortable, and all yours.
You can reserve online directly through our website. For airport water taxi transfers, email us at info@saltyvikingcharters.com to arrange.
